Eight months after Idai: Chronology of displacement, humanitarian needs and challenges going forward
This report looks at the patterns, trends and impacts of internal displacement eight months after the passage of Cyclone Idai in Mozambique between the 4th and the 15th of March, from the initial emergency response phase to a longer-term recovery phase.
It looks at different living conditions and how people moved from different sites over time, how humanitarian needs reported by IDPs changed, and the challenges going forward, as well as prospects for durable solutions.
This analysis, a collaboration between IDMC and IOM, comes at a crucial time as the country moves forward in recovery and risk reduction efforts to prevent another disaster with the upcoming arrival of the rain and cyclone season.
