Responding to Displacement-Related Loss and Damage through Inclusive Data, Finance and Action

Side-event at COP29

18 November 2024

13.15-14.15 AZT

Efforts to address displacement must be central to Loss and Damage governance and finance, as displaced communities and those at risk of being displaced are often most vulnerable to climate change impacts. Panelists will present different projects contributing to address displacement, and will share perspectives on how best to include communities in preventing and responding to loss and damage. They will also discuss progress to include displacement in the Loss and Damage architecture within the UNFCCC, as well as remaining challenges and expectations for COP29 to address them.
