2024 Global Report on Internal Displacement (GRID)
The 2024 Global Report on Internal Displacement (GRID) report presents the data and analysis behind the 75.9 million people living in internal displacement as of the end of 2023. It is the ninth edition of the GRID and includes global and regional insights into the risk, scale and impacts of internal displacement.
Conflict was the big story in 2023, with record numbers of people living in internal displacement at the end of the year as the result of conflict and violence. Earthquakes also triggered nearly a fourth of all disaster displacements during 2023, far more than usual.
The 2024 report presents the data and analysis behind these stories along with top-line and in-depth results of global internal displacement data collected by IDMC throughout 2023. It includes maps, charts and written analysis of the numbers of internally displaced people and internal displacements, or movements, globally and by region and country. Regional overviews provide analysis of the various political, economic and social contexts of displacement by geography, and country spotlights that provide in-depth case studies at the national level.
